You don’t recognize that you’re not functioning as good when your sleep patterns are messed up. When you finally get quality sleep, it’s like a new dimension opened up for you. You’re more efficient, energetic and overall in a good mood.
The same is true for a lot of things. One cannot know the feeling of the basic needs being taken care of if s/he is not comfortable financially. Getting people to understand us is immeasurably difficult, expecting them to think like us or change their behavior shortly after we “showed them” is almost impossible. The reason is obvious, their habits, worries and values are most likely different than ours. Those are the things that shape our way of thinking. Basically, we are not in the same “dimension”.
But, of course, at the same time, just because our minds are doomed to focus on the differences (even if they’re slight), one should not rush to that overly popular phrase, you don’t understand me. A very large percentage of people do not give their best effort, when in some cases, a small act can make a world of difference. To get the chance to witness that, you need to persist long enough. Because patience is most definitely a part of the formula.
