Is perfection something we should aim for? Well, since it is subjective and we can never get to absolute “perfect”, what we mean by that might actually be something like excellence, your very best work possible in that particular time.

But whatever that is, we already an idea of a standard in every area almost. That’s how we make sense of the world. We automatically compare things and people.

Especially when it comes to morality and ethics, we have an instinct rooted deep inside us. Every action we or someone takes is weighed according to that.

The idea of perfection can certainly paralyze people. If the comparisons we make exceeds, when it’s far often than we should, that’s when it slips out of hand. You’re not functioning properly, then.

So we either need some sort of balance (as in everything) or we need to apply that in context. Sometimes consistency needs to be the priority. In certain occasions it should be our intentions that matter the most.
